I am but probably not in a way you may be thinking.
I am not going to tell you that you should eat more vegetables or fruit or that lean meats
like fish and chicken are healthier for you or that sugary sweets are unhealthy for you or that drinking plenty of water can keep your bodily systems balanced...I will never tell you those things because that's not the way I roll.
I will tell you though all the "diet" and "low fat"," "low calorie", "no sugar, low sugar" foods are not doing any of us any good. Think about it...there are more processed, and " healthy diet" substitutes and "choices" at the grocery store and yet America is the fattest ( sorry politically incorrect)...heaviest... it has ever been in it's history. We have artificial sweeteners, butter that we can't believe is not butter, zero colas, egg substitutes, lite beer, lite ice cream- it's enough to make you lite headed!
People have been brain washed and or misled at best to believe scientist's idea of food is better than mother natures! Now in some cases these "scientific breakthroughs" are needed. People with certain disease states-diabetes, high cholesterol or allergies as examples-need help and can benefit from science. How food is grown has benefited from science. However the over use and misuse of science has provided results that are unintended and detrimental to our over all health. Too much of anything is not beneficial!
I am not saying we all need to become naturalists ,or vegans, or vegetarians or meat eaters or avoid scientific engineered food.
I am saying the less processed items are we eat the better our bodies know what to do with them. Our bodies are not made of nor have( unless surgically implanted) anything artificial in side them. Our bodies can process artificial "stuff' but not as efficiently or as completely as natural items. In other words our bodies can identify, utilize and discard, butter, sugar and coffee much more effectively than margarine, artificial sweeteners, and soda.
Don't get me wrong I love eating processed food products as much as the next guy but I don't live on them and if I eat them I enjoy them for what they are-snacks/sweets/something to put in my mouth not necessarily nourishment. I eat chips, snacks, desserts, meat, fruit, vegetables; I drink soda, juices, water, , I eat all types of food and enjoy it. I do stay away from anything "diet"-no diet soda,no artificial sweetened anything, no lo cal, lo fat or no fat, stuff for me- I do my best not to leave the table hungry or leave the table full ( a good steak or Italian dish are my weaknesses)-I do pay attention to what I'm eating- How I feel after I eat and what my body is telling me if I go too far or not far enough with what I am eating. I drink plenty of fluids but most of all I enjoy the food I eat and I enjoy real food! I don't panic or make drastic changes if my body is telling me somethings not right. I just make the adjustments that are needed and move on.
Food is needed by our bodies to stay healthy. Science has been a great asset to all of us from how our food is grown to how we process food to how we eat.
And too much of anything is not good.
Be responsible and accountable for what you eat and don't be taken in by claims of this or that. Food (even processed food) is needed to be healthy, enjoy it, don't fear it.
Remember food doesn't make us fat the choices we make with food make us fat!
Remember...
YOU ARE THE DIFFERENCE
